Abstract
Identifikasi fenomena dan konsumerisme tas wanita menjadi awal mula riset desain ini. Fenomena limbah kulit dan konsumerisasi tas wanita menjadikan peluang tersendiri untuk dijadikan sebuah produk. Kulit merupakan material alam yang berharga namun dalam proses produksinya sendiri hingga menjadi lembaran utuh menghasilkan polutan yang merugikan lingkungan baik dalam limbah padat maupun cair. Salah satu limbah padat yang dapat digunakan kembali dari proses tersebut adalah potongan kulit hasil dari seleksi lembaran dimana memiliki value yang rendah. Potongan kulit di pabrik kulit disimpan di gudang penyimpanan atau dijual ke masyarakat.Dalam studi riset yang dilakukan penulis berfokus pada pemanfaatan limbah potongan kulit dengan teknik – teknik eksplorasi sederhana sehingga dapat mengangkat nilai dari material limbah potongan kulit tersebut. Dari fenomena limbah potongan kulit , dilakukan identifikasi dengan menghasilkan kategorisasi dimensi limbah. Dari kategorisasi limbah tersebut dihasilkan suatu teknik pengolahan berdasarkan dimensi dan karakter material. Sedangkan, pada riset pengguna membahas tentang target konsumen, tren, serta selera pasar. Melalui metode desain , penulis mencari key concept untuk penyelesaian masalah sehingga didapat tas dengan konsep collapsible adalah salah satu solusi inovasi tas dengan memanfaatkan limbah potongan kulit.

Identification of the phenomenon and consumerism of women's bags became the beginning of this design research. The phenomenon of waste leather and the consumerization of women's handbags make a distinct opportunity to become a product. Leather is a valuable natural material, but in its production process it becomes a whole sheet producing pollutants that harm the environment both in solid and liquid waste. One of the reusable solid wastes from the process is a leather piece resulting from sheet selection which has a low value. Skin scraps in the leather factory are stored in a storage warehouse or sold to the public. In a research study conducted the author focuses on the utilization of waste lrather pieces with simple exploration techniques so as to lift the value of the leather waste material. From the phenomenon of skin scrap waste, identified by generating the categorization of waste dimensions. From the categorization of waste is generated a processing technique based on the dimensions and character of the material. Meanwhile, in the research user discusses about target consumers, trends, and market tastes. Through the design method, the author sought the key concepts to solve the problem, so that the concept of collapsible bag is one solution of innovation bag by utilizing waste pieces of leather.
