Abstract

Rumah Sakit X adalah rumah sakit umum Pemerintah Kota Surabaya dengan tipe B. Rumah sakit ini memiliki dua Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah yang diperuntukkan limbah non toksik dan limbah toksik. Proses pengolahan biologis pada air limbah non toksik menggunakan unit activated sludge. Kondisi activated sludge di IPAL rumah sakit tersebut masih belum optimal kandungan efluen air limbahnya untuk parameter COD belum memenuhi baku mutu sesuai Pergub Jatim No.72 Tahun 2013 sebesar 80 mg/L. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis efisiensi removal COD air limbah menggunakan biofilter aerobik rangkaian seri dengan variasi jenis media. Biofilter aerobik ini dimaksudkan sebagai post-treatment pada Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah Rumah Sakit X.
Penelitian menggunakan biofilter aerobik ini dilakukan pada skala laboratorium menggunakan media bioball dan kerikil yang memiliki diameter 25-30 dan ketinggian sebesar 40 cm. Sistem yang digunakan yaitu kontinu dengan aliran downflow dan waktu kontak 8 jam.
Hasil removal COD pada media bioball yaitu pada stage 1 sebesar 52%, pada stage 2 sebesar 27%, dan pada stage 3 sebesar 33%. Untuk media kerikil pada stage 1 sebesar 27%, pada stage 2 sebesar 27%, dan pada stage 3 sebesar 32%. Perhitungan dimensi biofilter aerobik jika diterapkan di Rumah Sakit yaitu berukuran 1,4 m x 0,7 m x 4 m dengan jumlah kompartemen sebanyak 8 buah.

Hospital X is Type-B general hospital in Surabaya. The hospital has two wastewater treatment which designated to non-toxic waste and toxic waste. Biological treatment process in a non-toxic wastewater using activated sludge. Conditions of activated sludge in hospital WWTP are still not optimal. content of the waste water effluent Iike COD parameters do not meet the quality standards appropriate East Java Governor Regulation 72 in 2013. Aims of this study was to analysis the COD removal efficiency of wastewater using aerobic biofilter series with variation of media types. Aerobic biofilter is intended as a post-treatment at the Waste Water Treatment Hospital X. Studies using aerobic biofilter is done on a laboratory scale using bioball media and gravel that has a diameter of 25-30 and a height of 40 cm. The system used is continuous with the downflow flows and contact time of 8 hours. COD removal results in bioball media that is at stage 1 by 52%, in stage 2 by 27%, and in stage 3 by 33%. For gravel media at stage 1 by 27%, in stage 2 by 27%, and in stage 3 by 32%. Calculation of aerobic biofilter dimension when applied in Hospital namely measuring 1,4 m x 0,7m x 4m with a number of compartements 8 units.
