Abstract

Sebagai sarana transportasi yang memuat makhluk hidup berupa hewan ternak, kapal pengangkut ternak membutuhkan desain sistem ventilasi khusus pada ruang muat guna menjaga agar hewan ternak terhindar dari heat stress akibat temperatur dan rasio kelembaban yang tinggi. Salah satu upaya untuk menghindari rasio kelembaban yang tinggi adalah memberikan suplai udara kering dengan menggunakan desiccant. Tujuan skripsi ini adalah merencanakan sistem ventilasi dengan twowheel desiccant melalui analisa perhitungan terhadap penurunan rasio kelembaban udara setelah melewati dua rotor desiccant serta pemenuhan kebutuhan alat pemanas dan sistem pendinginnya menggunakan panas gas buang dan air kondensat mesin AC. Dari hasil analisa didapatkan hasil bahwa untuk memberikan suplai udara pada ruang muat sebesar 41221 m3/h, diperoleh spesifikasi dua rotor desiccant yang memiliki diameter 2190 mm dengan ketebalan 200 mm untuk menurunkan rasio kelembaban udara luar sebesar 26.1 gw/kgda menjadi 14.70 gw/kgda. Temperatur udara hasil dehumidifikasi sebesar 72.8oC akan diturunkan menjadi 26oC dengan menggunakan koil pendingin dan media pendingin lain berupa air kondensat. Penggunaan air kondensat sebagai media pendingin mampu mengurangi beban pendinginan sebesar 18.41 kW dari total kebutuhan pendinginan sebesar 490.63 kW, sedangkan untuk kebutuhan pemanas udara reaktivasi sebesar 412.57 kW akan dipenuhi dengan memanfaatkan daya dari panas gas buang sebesar 440.99 kW. =========================================================================================================== Livestock carrier was a special ship carried in the form of livestock that needed special air ventilation system on the cargo hold for preventing them from heat stress due to high temperature and high humidity ratio. One of the ways used to decrease excessive air humidity ratio was to provide dry air by using desiccant dehumidifier. The purposes of this thesis were to design an alternative air ventilation system by using two-wheel desiccant through calculation analysis of humidity ratio reduction after the air passed through two desiccant wheels, and also it needs of heater and cooling system by using heat capacity of exhaust gas and condensate water from Air Conditioning (AC) machine. The result of the analysis shown that 41221 m3/h of cargo hold air capacity requirements was able to be supplied by two desiccant wheels which has 2190 mm of diameter, and 200 mm wheel depth. The humidity ratio of outside air was about 26.1 gw/kgda would be reduced into 14.70 gw/kgda through dehumidification process. The air temperature after dehumidification process increased up to 72.8oC and would be cooled into 26oC by configuring a cooling coil and also used condensate water as a cooling medium. The used of condensate water as a cooling medium was able to reduce 18.41 kW of total cooling load requirements of 490.63 kW, then for 412.57 kW heat capacity requirements for reactivation air heater would be supplied by using heat capacity of exhaust gas as 440.99 kW.
