Abstract

Pada mesin gerinda datar terdapat dua proses, yaitu proses pengasaran dan proses penghalusan. Pada proses pengasaran (roughing), getaran dapat merusak dan memperpendek umur pahat/mesin. Sedangkan pada proses penghalusan (finishing), getaran akan mengurangi ketelitian dimensi, bentuk dan kehalusan permukaan benda kerja.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui besarnya pengaruh cross feed terhadap amplitudo getaran dan kekasaran permukaan benda kerja pada proses gerinda datar. Adapaun material yang di gunakan adalah hardened tool steel SKD11 dimensi 300 mm x 60 mm x 20 mm, batu gerinda tipe A46QV dan A80LV berbahan aluminium oxide. Variabel parameter proses adalah cross feed (5,3 mm/langkah, 6,8 mm/langkah, 8,4 mm/langkah, 9,9 mm/langkah, 11,7 mm/langkah) dan kedalaman potong (0,01 mm, 0,02 mm dan 0.03 mm), variabel konstan dengan kecepatan makan (50 mm/s) dan putaran spindel 3000 rpm. Pengukuran getaran menggunakan accelerometer, yang diolah dengan program mathCAD dalam bentuk amplitudo dan frekuensi. Kemudian dihitung amplitudo level getarannya berupa rms (root mean square), peak, dan peak to peak. Untuk pengukuran kekasaran permukaan menggunakan surftest MT-301 dengan 5 titik sampel dan panjang sampel 0,8 mm.
Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa semakin besar cross feed semakin besar amplitudo level getaran dan kekasaran permukaan benda kerja. Besarnya amplitudo getaran pada acceleration yang terjadi pada tipe batu gerinda A46QV terendah sebesar 6,7369 g.rms (grafity.root mean square) dan tertinggi 18.7525 g.rms, sedangkan pada tipe batu gerinda A80LV terendah sebesar 5.0904 g.rms dan tertinggi 18.2821 g.rms. Kekasaran permukaan benda kerja yang dicapai baik pada tipe batu gerinda A46QV maupun A80LV adalah dari 0,36 μm sampai 1.47 μm. Adapun hubungan antara getaran dan kekasaran permukaan digambarkan secara linieritas dengan koefisien determinasi sebesar 99%. Kontribusi yang diberikan adalah dapat memprediksi tingkat kekasaran permukaan dengan mengukur level getaran selama proses penggerindaan, tanpa harus melakukan pengukuran kekasaran permukaan

There are two basic processes that can be performed can on a surface grinding machine, i.e. roughing and finishing processes. Vibration occurs during roughing processes can damage and shorten both tool life and grinding machine. For finishing process, vibration reduce the dimensional accuracy, configuration and surface finish of the workpiece.
This research is conducted to study of the effect cross feed on vibration and the surface roughness of hardened tool steel SKD11 which is machined by surface grinding process. The materials used are dimensions of 300 mm x 60 mm x 20 mm. The dimension of the type A46QV and A80LV Aluminum oxide grinding wheel= Ø 200 mm x 25 mm. The cross feed is varied from (5.3 mm / stroke, 6.8 mm/stroke, 8.4 mm/stroke, 9.9 mm/stroke, 11.7 mm/stroke) and depth of cut (0.01 mm, 0.02 mm and 0.03 mm), The constant machining parameter are set as follows :longitudinal feed 50 mm/s and 3000 rpm spindle rotation. Vibration measurements using an accelerometer, which is be treated with Mathcad program in the form of amplitude and frequency. Then calculated the amplitude of the vibration level in the form of rms (root mean square), peak, and peak to peak. For the measurement of surface roughness using surftest MT-301 with 5 points samples and sample length of 0.8 mm.
The magnitude of the acceleration of vibration amplitude that occurs in type A46QV is 6.7369 g.rms for the lowest value and 18.7525 g.rms for the highest value, while on the type A80LV g.rms is 5.0904 g.rms for the lowest and 18.2821 for the highest value. Surface roughness achieved either on type A46QV and type A80LV is on the 0.36 μm to 1.47 μm. The relationship between vibration and the surface roughness is described by a linieritas with a coefficient of determination of 99%. Based on these results, the contribution is able to predict the surface roughness of the grinded surface by measuring the vibration level during grinding process, without measuring the surface roughness
