Abstract

========================================================
The bridge is transportation infrastructure to connect areas separated by rivers, swamps, lakes, straits, channels, highways, railroad/other crossings, and the deep valley. In Indonesia, the bridges will increase due to regional development expansion. However, some of the bridges before its lifetime sudden collapse without known both symptoms and timing. The smart bridge construction could predict its failure and reliability due to dynamic damage of deck, beam, and abutments/pier. Previous research on bridge collapse has studied but is still limited to the prediction of bridge components failure. They have no discussed the interrelationship between bridge components, so the contribution of damage on one component to others, as well as overall bridge, cannot be known. It is difficult to determine early warnings of bridge failure. Therefore research on probabilistic models for predicting integrated bridge failure is needed.
The research variable is the damage of the bridge component, which is analyzed its reliability to determine the component condition. The arrangement of the probabilistic model of bridge failure prediction uses 3,166 BMS (Bridge Management System) data. 80% of BMS data is used to generate a model, while the rest is model validation. This model uses Hybrid Bayesian-System Dynamics because Bayesian can predict the probability of bridge components failure while System Dynamics solve interrelationship between bridge components.
The results show that the relationship both between components and between the bridge and its components was a dependency. The most significant influence on the bridge was Beam and Abutment, while Deck had a smaller effect. The determining of the bridge components condition ("Good", "Moderate" and "Fail") is through the BMS visual inspection or reliability index of visual inspection results. The model improves the efficiency of the visual inspection implementation from yearly to 10-18 years because of its ability to predict both bridge and component conditions. The accuracy of the BSD model for the 18 years is 82.44% - 92.22%, and the ten years is 88.00% - 99.60% with sensitivity 11-18 years. The sufficient repair period is every 25 years. Therefore, this BSD model can be used as a guide for bridge operation and maintenance to avoid the sudden collapse of the bridge. The model accuracy can be improved by updating the CPT and extensive the reliability index.
