Abstract

industri lokal terbatas bahkan kebanyakan meniru desain luar negeri. Sehingga

Footwear is one of the fashion elements which could be important and came with
a several benefits, especially shoes. The importance of footwear, is keep making
an increase at market value in Indonesia. The amount of footwear company
production reaches at only 3% from the rest of the world, which causing around
70-80% footwear brands in Indonesia are filled with international brands. There
are only 100 brand and small companies do exist in Indonesia. Those things are
happened because of the less variety that given by local industries, and even most
of them are copying design form branded products. With the result that consumer
prefer an international brands, which came with more design variety and
technology. Moreover, local footwear are not following a trend too much and
doesn’t have a special characteristic themself. While Indonesia is having a diverse
wealth which could be taken as an inspiration for a local footwear design. One of
them is Indonesia as a maritime country with plenty of nautical richness and
several sea creature’s species included in it. The chosen of whale theme also
supported by a campaign action, because whales are belong to the most hunted
sea creature. So that whales’ species are decreasing each and every year. Research
method that used beside the secondary data for this research are literature data,
that is persona method for determine target user, questionary from a member of
footwear community, and also shadowing for taking a knowledge at user behavior
on interacting with their different type of shoes. The data which have been taken
are breakdowned using affinity diagram and imageboard method for a needs,
problems, features and attribute, shape, clours, and material studies which needed
for design exploration
