Abstract

Sodalite has been successfully synthesized directly from kaolin Bangka Belitung using hydrothermal method at 100 ° C for 24 hours. Sodalite has been synthesized using molar composition 3Na2O: 2SiO2: Al2O3: 128H2O, where the variation 3Na2O divided into 3Na2O, 4Na2O: 2NaCl, Na2O: 4NaCl, and 6NaCl. The products of synthesis are analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), FTIR, and SEM-EDX. Based on XRD characterization, the result shows that sodalite begins to form in the composition OH- /Si 1. The result of XRD analysis showed that the more ratio of OH- /Si is used, the more sodalite will be formed. Based on SEM analysis, the result shows that variations in the sodalite OH- /Si 2 and 3 have the morphology similar to the standard SOD, which is similar with small spheres that attached to each other. Based on EDX analysis, the result shows that the samples with a ratio OH- / Si 1, 2, and 3 contain elements Si, Al, and Na.
