Abstract

Kendaraan listrik adalah salah satu kemajuan penting yang telah ditemukan untuk memenuhi keinginan manusia akan terciptanya transportasi yang lebih ramah lingkungan dibanding kendaraan berbahan bakar fosil. Salah satu moda transportasi berbasis listrik yang kini banyak dikembangkan adalah bus listrik, karena sering dipakai dan dapat mengangkut manusia dalam jumlah banyak. Sumber tenaga yang dipakai dalam bus listrik disimpan dalam sebuah sistem penyimpanan energi yang biasanya berupa baterai. Sistem penyimpanan berupa baterai dapat melayani kebutuhan energi untuk menggerakkan bus listrik dalam waktu tempuh yang cukup lama. Akan tetapi, muncul permasalahan pada baterai seperti bobotnya yang lumayan berat dan siklus pemakaian yang cenderung rendah. Solusi yang dirasa mampu untuk mengatasi hal tersebut adalah penggantian sistem penyimpanan energi dengan kapasitor super. Kapasitor super memilik massa jenis daya yang besar, efisiensi tinggi, siklus pemakaian yang tinggi, dan juga dapat diisi dengan cepat. Tugas akhir ini berisi tentang studi perbandingan teknis antara kapasitor super dan baterai sebagai media penyimpanan energi pada bus listrik, dengan tujuan utama untuk membandingkan pemodelan termal dan potensi konsumsi energi. =========================================================================== Electric vehicles are one of the important advances that have been found to fulfil the human desire for more environmentally friendly transportation than fossil-fuelled vehicles. One of the electricity-based modes of transportation that is now being developed is electric buses, because they are often used and can transport large numbers of people. The power source used in an electric bus is stored in an energy storage system which is usually a battery. A battery storage system can serve the energy needs to drive an electric bus in a long time. However, problems arise in the battery such as the weight is quite heavy and the usage cycle tends to be low. The solution that is felt to be able to overcome this is the replacement of energy storage systems with supercapacitors. Supercapacitors have large power density, high efficiency, high duty cycle, and can also be filled quickly. This final project contains a technical comparison study between supercapacitors and batteries as energy storage media on electric buses, with the main objective to compare thermal modelling and energy consumption.
