Abstract

Teenagers are now growing up in the era of video games both online and offline, while video game play is more emotional than rational, this is due to the game algorithm protocol that is made to adapt to player behavior. Parameters such as rewards, new and stratified challenges, social, and trends are just a few of the ways that games become more attractive to users. One consequence that often occurs from the influence of attracting interest is angry emotions on gamers, while angry emotions are one of the negative emotions for humans that can cause poor health.
Therefore, this study tries to provide information about the pulse rate signal patterns in players when anger occurs during playing video games that have been determined. The selected game has been validated using a survey to the video game developer community as a video game that can have angry emotions as dominant emotions. The pulse rate data for each subject has two phases: the baseline phase (pre-stimulation) and the play phase (in-stimulation). The statistical parameters used to obtain the pulse pattern are the difference value of mean and absolute deviation of mean. Besides the introduction of angry emotions is done by predicting angry emotions from the pulse rate signal feature data that is recorded while playing video games. It aims to be able to provide information about the level of truth of the pulse rate data which is assumed to be data representation of angry emotions. The method used by applying the Support Vector Machine (SVM) classification algorithm. There are problems in the data obtained in the classification method, namely the imbalance between the baseline and playing classes. Solution to the imbalanced class problem is proposed using the Bagging algorithm (boostrap aggregation) approach by building several models with the same algorithm (multiple classifier) from different sub-samples.
The results obtained, the classification using the proposed Bagging method has performance with an accuracy score of 82.98%, Weighted Averages of the PPV and NPV scores of 77.7%, Weighted Averages of the TPR and TNR scores of 83%, and Weighted Averages of the FPR and FNR scores of 76.2%. From these results, it shows that prediction of angry emotions using the classification method can identify angry emotions in adolescents when playing video games based on pulse rate signals.
