Abstract

Material kuat dan ringan menjadi sangat penting dalam dunia Industri. Material yang kuat dan ringan dapat menurunkan penggunaan bahan bakar dan tingkat emisi oleh mesin seperti halnya pada material komposit polimer epoksi. Epoksi adalah bahan yang digunakan sebagai matriks dalam komposit. Epoksi memiliki sifat mekanik yang baik. Namun, epoksi memiliki keterbatasan dalam aplikasinya. Nanokomposit atau penguatan menggunakan nanopartikel adalah metode untuk meningkatkan sifat mekanik pada komposit polimer epoksi. Partikel cenderung menahan pergerakan fase matriks di sekitarnya. Nanopartikel dengan berbagai macam jenis telah diteliti pengaruhnya terhadap nanokomposit polimer epoksi. Pada tinjauan ini telah dipelajari terkait potensi dan keefektifan jenis partikel Nanosilika, Halloysite, CTBN liquid rubber, Multi-walled carbon nanotubes, dan Montmorillonite nanoclay terhadap morfologi dan sifat mekanik pada komposit polimer epoksi. Didapatkan bahwa jenis nanopartikel yang paling efektif untuk meningkatkan sifat mekanik nanokomposit polimer epoksi pada kekuatan tarik adalah jenis spherical serta jenis nanotubes pada kekuatan tekan dan kekuatan lentur. ========================================================== Strong and lightweight materials have become very important in the industrial world. Strong and lightweight materials can reduce fuel use and emission levels generated by engines as well as epoxy polymer composite materials. Epoxy is a material used as a matrix in composites. Epoxy has good mechanical properties. However, epoxy has limitations in its application. Nanocomposites or particle reinforcement with nanoparticles is a method to improve the mechanical properties of epoxy polymer composites. Nanoparticles tend to restrain the movement of the matrix phase in the vicinity. Its effects on various types of nanoparticles have been investigated for epoxy polymer nanocomposites. This review has been studied the potentiality and effectiveness of Nanosilica, Halloysite, CTBN liquid rubber, Multi-walled carbon nanotubes, and Montmorillonite nano clay particles types on the morphology and mechanical properties of epoxy polymer composites. It was found that the most effective type of nanoparticles to improve the mechanical properties of epoxy polymer nanocomposites in tensile strength are the spherical types as well as the nanotubes types in compressive strength and flexural strength.
