Abstract

Along with the changes of time, human needs will keep increasing, therefore triggers expansion in their living environment. The dense arrangement of cities as where activities take place, eventually will add pressure to its citizens. As a result, if this pressure is exposed continuously, will worsen the health condition, both physically and mentally. So, in order to overcome this problem, an architectural object is proposed to handle mental disorders informally, which is caused by the exposure of pressures in a metropolitan city. The design process is started through Environmental Psychology approach, which is chosen to understand the relation between human behavior and the surrounding site, which is located in Kuningan, South Jakarta. Then, Sense of Place value is studied in order to create attachment to a place, so the people will be free from the urban tension they receive daily. To add this Sense of Place value, Narrative Architecture method is chosen. By arranging the context’s narration, and combining it with the solution narration, to create a comprehensive object. The appointed function is Mixed-Use Creative Space, which is a public facility where the programs are developed and arranged to match the needs and preferences of citizens. Other than that, the object also accommodates various activities that are general to attract visitors from other areas as well. Design criteria and concepts are then generated to support the creation of mixed-use facility which will improve productivity and creativity in working, while reducing mental pressure of Jakarta’s density.
