Abstract

Analisis karakteristik didapatkan dari pengujian Marshall berupa nilai kepadatan, Void In Mix (VIM), Void in Mineral Aggregate (VMA), Void Filled with Asphalt (VFA), Flow, Stabillitas dan Marshall Quotient.
============================================================================================
Aggregates are the largest component in the construction of the asphalt concrete layer. The shape and texture of the aggregate greatly affect the strength and quality of the asphalt concrete. Demand for the use of natural aggregates for road infrastructure development in Indonesia continues to increase. On the other hand, the availability of natural aggregates has limitations. For that, it is necessary to make an effort that can find alternatives to the use of natural aggregates, one of which is the use of steel refining waste (slag steel). Waste from steel refining (slag steel) is included in B3 waste (Hazardous and Toxic Materials). Waste from the steel refining industry continues to accumulate due to the absence of sustainable use, therefore the use of slag waste in road construction is needed to minimize the buildup that can adversely affect the environment.
In this study slag steel aggregates were used as substitutes for natural aggregates with a percentage of 0%, 50%, 80% and 100%. In the initial stages of testing the characteristics of slag aggregate, this test aims to determine whether the aggregate used meets the requirements as an asphalt mixture. Furthermore, making a mixture design with Marshall testing. Characteristic analysis was obtained from Marshall testing in the form of density values, Void In Mix (VIM), Void in Mineral Aggregate (VMA), Void Filled with Asphalt (VFA), Flow, Stability and Marshall Quotient. This study refers to 2018 Bina Marga Specifications.
The results obtained by adding 80% aggregate slag in the mixture produced the highest stability in the amount of 2320.19 kg, and the lowest stability was found in variations of 100% natural aggregate in the amount of 1245.21 kg. The resulting stability still meets the 2018 Bina Marga specification minimum limit of 800 kg. While the value of durability with the addition of slag steel aggregates into the mixture results in a better value, the highest durability is found in 50% slag steel variations that is equal to 93.84% while the lowest durability is found in variations of 100% natural aggregate that is equal to 90.54%. The durability value of each mixture meets the 2018 Bina Marga requirements of ≥90%.
