Abstract

Sebanyak 3,6% dari populasi penduduk di dunia mengalami Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) atau fobia sosial yaitu masalah gangguan jiwa yang membuat seseorang tidak dapat menghadapi situasi sosial. Masalah gangguan jiwa ini merupakan hal yang cukup menganggu kehidupan seseorang karena dapat mempengaruhi produktivitas dan lain sebagainya. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut biasanya seseorang yang mengalami SAD akan melakukan psikoterapi konvensional yang biasa dikenal dengan sebutan cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), namun kegiatan psikoterapi tersebut tidak terlalu fleksibel. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan analisa penanganan Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET) sebagai alternatif penanganan SAD. VRET merupakan metode terapi virtual yang bekerja dengan cara merubah persepsi seseorang dengan cara diberikan stimulus melalui simulasi virtual. Penelitian ini menggunakan 3 buah skenario simulasi bertema business life yaitu job interview, business lunch dan team meeting. Responden melakukan simulasi pada 1 skenario yang memiliki 3 buah variasi. Digunakan 2 buah kuisioner yaitu kuisioner SSQ untuk mengetahui kondisi cyber sickness dan Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale untuk mendiagnosa kondisi SAD. Hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan diolah menggunakan metode statistik Repeated Measures ANOVA untuk mengetahui perubahan kondisi responden sebelum dan sesudah melakukan simulasi dan regresi linear untuk menguji hasil kuisioner SSQ dan menghindari adanya bias perubahan variabel yang disebabkan oleh cyber sickness. Dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan, terdapat 10 orang responden dari 12 responden yang mengalami perubahan status SAD menjadi mengalami SAD moderat dengan rata – rata penurunan skor SAD sebesar 10,05%, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa VRET dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif penanganan SAD.

Around 3,6% of the world population are having Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) or sometimes it is called social phobia which is one kind of mental disorder that happens when someone feeling anxious when facing social situation. This kind of mental disorder can affect person’s productivity and so on. To overcome these problems, usually someone who had SAD will do a treatment by doing psychotherapy called cognitive behavioural therapy, but these treatment is not that flexible. In this study, an analysis were conducted to analyse the use of virtual reality exposure therapy (VRET) as an alternative method for treating SAD. There are 3 business life themed scenario which are job interview, business lunches and team meetings. Each scenario have 3 variations (topics). Respondent in the study is doing simulation with 1 scenario that has 3 topics. This study uses 2 questionnaire which are SSQ and Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale (LSAS), SSQ were used to identify the cyber sickness level while LSAS were used to identify SAD status of each respondent. The result of the simulation were processed using 2 statistical method which are; Repeated Measures ANOVA to determine if there are any changes between the condition of before simulation and after simulation and linear regression to identify if the result of the study is affected by cyber sickness. There are 10 respondents out of 12 respondents who have reduced their SAD level from experiencing SAD to experiencing moderate SAD with average decrease number of 10,05% after doing VRET. This shows that VRET can be used as an alternative for treating SAD.
