Abstract

Kuala Kapuas menjadi salah satu contoh absennya fungsi transportasi

============================================================

A livable city is a depiction of a comfortable environment as a place to live
and work. One of the principles in fulfilling this picture is the public transportation
system. Mobility and community economic activities will be helped by a good
public transportation system. However, most cities in Indonesia do not have good
facilities related to the public transportation system so people tend to use private
vehicles which lead to urban issues such as traffic jams
The absence of the public transportation function will greatly affect large
cities. But what about small cities that don't yet have issues like traffic? The impact
that arises is related to slow city growth. This has become one of the urgencies of
the need for a good public transportation system in small or medium sized cities.
Kuala Kapuas is one example of the absence of the public transportation
function in the city. Its location on the edge of the Kapuas river makes ferry
crossings become developed mass transportation. As for transportation within the
city, the people still use private vehicles.
Based on this issue, the concept raised is the creation of a terminal by
applying the principles of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) on the side of the
Kapuas River. This concept tries to integrate the ferry crossing with the city
transportation terminal. The aim is to support community activities and prevent
future congestion issues by applying TOD principles such as walkability and
connectivity
