Abstract

The city of Surakarta is in the process of becoming one of the design-based Creative Cities crowned by UNESCO (United Nations, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) which requires improvements and infrastructure development, including the construction of the City Gallery. Revitalizing the Interior Design of Gedhe Market as the Surakarta City Gallery is a revitalization that uses the concept of cultural adaptation.
Pasar Gedhe will be revitalized into a building with a new function in accordance with the current needs, namely the Surakarta City Gallery. The Surakarta City Gallery will serve as a tourist destination for tourists who want to find out information about the city of Surakarta, in addition, the Surakarta City Gallery will serve as a creative forum for the community in the creative industry sector.
The interior design of the Surakarta City Gallery raises the Ecofuture design style with the theme of Solo Batik as the cultural identity of Surakarta itself, Ecofuture is an interesting and futuristic interior style by applying Green Design elements to its interior, while the Solo Batik theme is a representation of the creativity and cultural potential of the community. Therefore, the Revitalization of the Interior Design of Gedhe Market as a Surakarta City Gallery is considered important in order to make Surakarta City as one of the Creative Cities in Indonesia, and to enable the people of Surakarta to continue to develop socially and culturally through the creative industry.
