Abstract

Salah satu kebijakan Presiden Indonesia saat ini ialah untuk realisasi biodiesel jenis B30.
Dengan menetapkan penggunaan campuran biodiesel sebesar maksimum 30% khusus
untuk pembangkit listrik. Salah satu pembangkit tenaga diesel yang ingin menggunakan
B30 adalah PLTD yang berada di ketinggian ±3000 mdpl. Tentu temperatur di sana
cukup dingin bahkan terendah mencapai 4℃. Dalam suhu rendah, hal itu menjadi
tantangan untuk bahan bakar biodiesel karena biodiesel cenderung gel (membeku) pada
suhu yang lebih tinggi daripada biodiesel konvensional. Oleh karena itu memerlukan
handling khusus untuk pengoperasian PLTD agar B30 bisa digunakan. Karakteristik
bahan bakar diesel di cuaca dingin dapat dilihat dari titik kabut (CP), dan titik tuang (PP)
pada suhu berapa. Dalam perencanaan ini dibutuhkan thermal oil heater dan sistem
tracing untuk menjaga kestabilan transfer bahan bakar. Selain bahan bakar perlu dikenali
juga karakteristik engine dan instalasi pipa yang berkaitan dengan sistem bahan bakar
PLTD. Dalam uji penelitian ini dilakukan dengan desain perencanaan berdasarkan pada
desain keyplan, detail drawing, pemilihan material, dan project cost. Hasil penelitian ini
nantinya dapat menginformasikan performa B30 di cuaca dingin, dan referensi untuk
proyek pembangunan PLTD khususnya di daerah bertemperatur rendah, sehingga bisa
menjadi acuan untuk penanganan bahan bakar guna engine di temperatur rendah.

One of the current policies of the President of Indonesia is for biodiesel type B30. By
regulating the use of biodiesel blends at a maximum of 30% specifically for electricity
generation. One of the diesel power plants that wants to use the B30 is power plant which
is at an altitude of ± 3000 masl. The temperature there is quite low even reaching 4 ℃.
In low temperatures, it is a challenge for biodiesel fuel because biodiesel requires a gel
(freeze) at a higher temperature than conventional biodiesel. Therefore special handling
is needed to activate the PLTD so that B30 can be used. The characteristics of diesel fuel
in cold weather can be seen from the fog point (CP), and the pour point (PP) at what
temperature. In this plan a thermal oil heating system and tracing system are needed for
the stability of the fuel transfer. In addition to fuel, engine features and pipe installations
need to be recognized in relation to the PLTD fuel system. The trial of this research was
carried out with a planning design based on key plan designs, detailed drawings, material
selection, and project costs. The results of this study can test the performance of B30 in
cold weather, and a reference to a special power plant construction project in low
temperature regions, so that it can be a reference for making fuel for engines at low
temperatures.
