Abstract

Salah satu alat materials handling yang digunakan untuk proses pemindahan (moving) adalah screw conveyor. Screw conveyor ini terdiri dari baja yang memiliki bentuk spiral yang tertancap pada poros dan berputar dalam suatu saluran berbentuk U (through) tanpa menyentuhnya sehingga flight (daun screw) mendorong material ke dalam trough. Poros digerakkan oleh motor listrik. Workshop frangible bullet yang berada di bawah naungan Departemen Teknik Material dan Metalurgi ITS memproduksi Frangible bullet yang dalam prosesnya membutuhkan screw conveyor untuk memindahkan campuran serbuk tembaga dan timah (Cu-Sn10%wt) ke mesin kompaksi untuk proses kompaksi. Dalam penelitian ini desain screw conveyor berdasarkan standar perhitungan dari Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA). Kemudian dilakukan juga penelitian untuk mengetahui defleksi sehingga screw conveyor aman beroperasi. Dari penelitian ini didapatkan desain screw conveyor dengan komponen-komponen penting sebagai berikut: Helicoid Conveyor screw standar CEMA dengan designation 6H312, Daya motor 0,25 HP, Transmisi worm gear dengan reduction ratio 50, Transmisi Belt dan Pulley dengan diameter 3 in dan 6 in, Poros Standar dengan panjang 17 in, poros drive dengan panjang 12 in, flange ball bearing dengan diameter 1,5. in software AutoCAD sehingga didapatkan gambar teknik rancangan desain screw conveyor. Dari penelitian ini didapatkan juga nilai defleksi hasil perhitungan teoritis sebesar 0,0826 in dan hasil simulasi sebesar 0,1185 in. kedua nilai tersebut dibawah dari 0,25 in yang merupakan batas maksimal defleksi yang v diijinkan. Oleh karena itu screw conveyor aman dari gesekan dengan chasing. Dari penelitian ini didapatkan juga nilai Von Misses Stress maksimum hasil simulasi sebesar 159,2 Psi. Nilai Von Misses Stress maksimum dibawah dari 24995,66 Psi yang merupakan nilai yield strength dari stainless steel, sehingga helicoid conveyor screw aman. This screw conveyor consists of steel that has a spiral shape embedded in the shaft and rotates in a U-shaped channel (through) without touching it so that the flight, pushes the material into the trough. The shaft is driven by an electric motor. The frangible bullet workshop under the auspices of the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering of ITS, produces Frangible bullets which in the process require a screw conveyor to transfer a mixture of copper and tin powder (Cu-Sn10% wt) to an compaction machine for the compacting process. In this study, the screw conveyor design was based on the calculation standards of the Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA). Then an analysis is also carried out to see the deflection so that the screw conveyor is safe. From this research, the design of the screw conveyor with the following important components is obtained: Standard CEMA Helicoid Conveyor screw with the designation 6H312, motor power of 0.25 HP, transmission of worm gear with a reduction ratio of 50, Transmission Belt and Pulley with a diameter of 3 in and 6 in. , Standard shaft 17 in long, drive shaft 12 in length, flange ball bearing 1.5 in diameter. in the AutoCAD software to obtain a technical drawing of the screw conveyor design. From this research, it is also found that the deflection value of the theoretical calculation is 0.0826 in and the simulation result is 0.1185 in both of these values is below 0.25 in which is the maximum allowable deflection limit. Therefore, the screw conveyor is safe from friction with the chasing. From this research, it is also found that he maximum Von Misses Stress value of the simulation results was 159.2 psi. The maximum Von vii Misses Stress value is below 24995.66 psi which is the yield strength value of stainless steel, so the helicoid conveyor screw is safe.
