Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memperoleh efisiensi
penyisihan serta variasi ketebalan dan diameter media pasir yang
paling optimal dalam menyisihkan COD, zat padat, nitrat dan
fosfat dari air limbah dengan menggunakan aerasi, bak
pengendap, dan biosand filter. Dimensi bak pengendap yang
digunakan yaitu, 77cm x 20cm x 20cm (panjang x lebar x tinggi).
Media yang digunakan pada reaktor biosand filter adalah pasir
dengan variasi ketebalan 5cm dan 10cm, serta diameter 0,59mm
dan 1,19mm. Pengaliran air limbah diatur menggunakan valve
dengan debit 30l/jam atau 8,3ml/detik.
Hasil dari analisis yang dilakukan didapatkan penyisihan
rata – rata dari aerasi terhadap parameter COD 19,35%, zat padat
4,29%, nitrat 5,84%, fosfat 4,56%. bak pengendap terhadap
parameter COD 27,07%, zat padat 60,62%, nitrat 8,67%, fosfat
7,48%. Selanjutnya untuk biosand filter 1, 2, dan 3 dalam
penyisihan COD 51,90%; 59,30%; dan 39,69%, zat padat
81,94%; 90,89%; dan 79,22%, nitrat 22,72%; 28,02%; dan
20,19%, fosfat 20,49%; 22,82%; dan 16,87%. Variasi optimal
pada penelitian ini adalah reaktor biosand filter 2, dengan
ketebalan media 10 cm dan diameter 0,59mm.

The purpose of this research is obtaining removal
efficiencies and optimal variation of diameter and thickness of
the sand used in biosand filter to remove cod, nitrate, posphate,
and total suspended solid contained within the water sample
using an aeration and sedimentation as a pre-treatment. The
dimension of the sedimentation used in this research is 77cm x
20cm x 20cm (length x width x height). Variations are 5cm and
10cm in thickness, 1,19mm and 0,59mm in diameter. Water flow
was set to 30l/hr or 8,3ml/sec using plastic valve.
According to recent analysis, we obtain an average
removal of cod, nitrate, posphate, and total suspended solid
sequentially in aeration was 19,35%, 4,29%, 5,84%, 4,56%. In
sedimentation was 27,07%, 60,62%, 8,67%, 7,48%. In biosand
filter 1, 2, 3 was 51,90%; 59,30%; 39,69% for cod. 81,94%;
90,89%;79,22% for total suspended solid. 22,72%;
28,02%;20,19% for nitrate. 20,49%; 22,82%; 16,87% for
posphate with biosand filter 2 became the most optimum
variation in overall parameters removal as we saw above.
