Abstract

Penurunan kadar kromium dari limbah cair penyamakan
kulit telah dilakukan dengan metode elektrokoagulasi
menggunakan elektroda Fe-Fe. Optimasi dilakukan pada limbah
sintetis kromium dengan kadar kromium 2.000 ppm dengan
variasi pH limbah sintetis kromium yaitu 4; 5; 6; 7; 8; 9; 1; 11; 12
dan 13. Berdasarkan data hasil penelitian didapatkan kondisi
optimum proses elektrokoagulasi pada limbah sintetis kromium
yaitu dengan pH 8 untuk waktu 30 menit serta tegangan sebesar
12 V dapat menurunkan kadar kromium sebesar 99,97 %. Kondisi
optimum tersebut selanjutnya diaplikasikan pada limbah cair
penyamakan kulit dan diperoleh prosentase penurunan yang sama
yaitu 99,97%

Reduction of chromium from tannery wastewater was
carried out by electrocoagulation method using iron electrode.
Electrocoagulation was used 2.000 ppm synthetic chromium
wastewater with various pH of synthetic chromium wastewater
were 4; 5; 6; 7; 8; 9; 1; 11; 12 and 13. Result of experimental
showed that optimum condition was pH 8 during 30 minutes and
voltage 12 V of current can reducted the chromium until 99,97%.
That optimum condition applied at tannery wastewater and
obtained the percentage reduction of chromium 99,97%.
