Abstract

Pada penelitian ini zeolit X berpendukung material serat
berhasil disintesis menggunakan metode hidrotermal sederhana.
Serat gelas (glass wool) digunakan sebagai material serat dengan
variasi waktu dan konsentrasi pada aktivasi serat. Proses aktivasi
serat gelas memberikan pengaruh terhadap kristalinitas zeolit X
dan pertumbuhan kristal zeolit X pada permukaan serat. Hasil
karakterisasi menggunakan XRD, SEM, AFM menunjukkan
bahwa kristal zeolit X dapat tumbuh menyelimuti permukaan
serat dengan kristalinitas paling tinggi pada konsentrasi aktivasi
serat sebesar 4M selama 24 jam (1 hari). Luas permukaan dan
karakteristik pori dianalisis menggunakan adsorpsi isotherm gas
N2. Pengukuran adsorpsi karbon dioksida secara gravimetri
menunjukkan bahwa zeolit X berpendukung material serat
mampu menangkap gas karbon dioksida pada suhu ruang hingga
mencapai 2,83% berat.

In this research, zeolite X supported by fiber material was
successfully synthesized using a simple hydrothermal method.
Glass wool is used as fiber material with additional variation of
time and concentration at glass wool activation. Activation
process in glass wool has an effect toward crystallinity and
growth of zeolite X at fiber surface. The results of
characterization using XRD, SEM and AFM showed that zeolite
X crystal grow at fiber surface with highest crystallinity while
concentration of activation reach 4M during 24 hours (one day).
BET surface area and pore characteristic analyzed by N2
isothermal adsorption. Carbon dioxide adsorption measurement
by gravimetric method showed that zeolite X supported by fiber
material has capability to capture carbon dioxide at room
temperature until reach 2,83 wt.%.
