Abstract

Kapal cepat katamaran saat ini banyak digunakan sebagai kapal militer maupun kapal penumpang dikarenakan kapal katamaran memiliki kualitas stabilitas yang baik dan hambatan yang lebih kecil dibandingkan kapal monohull. Namun demikian, kapal cepat katamaran memiliki keterbatasan terkait kualitas seakeeping saat kapal beroperasi pada daerah perairan yang bergelombang. Sehingga saat ini banyak digunakan hydrofoil pada kapal katamaran untuk mengatasi keterbatasan tersebut. Oleh sebab itu, pada penelitian ini akan dilakukan analisis mengenai pengaruh penggunaan hydrofoil pada kapal katamaran terhadap seakeeping kapal. Metode analisis yang digunakan yaitu secara numerik menggunakan Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) yang mengadopsi 3D diffraction theory dalam melakukan analisis seakeeping pada kapal. Sebuah kapal penumpang katamaran dengan hydrofoil dengan tipe NACA 641-212 dengan sudut serang 4 derajat akan digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Posisi peletakan hydrofoil dioptimasi untuk memperoleh posisi foil yang optimum dalam mengurangi respon gerakan kapal. Analisis numerik dilakukan pada dua kondisi yaitu, pada kapal katamaran tanpa hydrofoil, dan dengan penambahan dua hydrofoil dimana satu hydrfoil di buritan dan satu hydrofoil lainnya di haluan kapal. Beradasarkan hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa pada saat kondisi kapal diam, penggunaan hydrofoil tidak terlalu memberikan pengaruh terhadap respon gerakan kapal, dikarenakan hydrofoil belum menghasilkan lift apabila kapal masih dalam kondisi diam. Namun ketika kapal beroperasi dengan kecepatan dinas, penggunaan hydrofoil mampu mengurangi amplitudo signifikan gerakan kapal. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan terjadinya pengurangan nilai amplitudo signifikan maksimum pada gerakan heaving yang terjadi pada arah gelombang 180 derajat dengan pengurangan sebesar 5.46%, pada gerakan pitching yang terjadi pada arah gelombang 180 derajat dengan pengurangan 10.88%, dan pada gerakan rolling yang terjadi pada arah gelombang 90 derajat dengan pengurangan sebesar 4.11%. ================================================================================================================== Recently high-speed catamaran vessels are widely used as military and passenger ship because catamaran vessels provide better stability and less resistance than monohull. However, highspeed catamaran vessels have limitations, as insufficient seakeeping quality in rough seas. The use of hydrofoil is starting to be widely applied for high speed catamaran vessels to improve their seakeeping quality. In this paper, the effects of hydrofoil applied on catamaran ship hull are studied in relation to seakeeping of the ship. The seakeeping analyses are conducted numerically by using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) which means 3D Diffraction theory is adopted for introducing the seakeeping of the ship. A catamaran passenger ship installed by hydrofoil type of NACA 641-212 with an angle of attack of 4deg is used for the simulations. The position of hydrofoil is optimized to gain the optimum hydrofoil position for reducing ship motions. Numerical analyzes are carried out for two conditions: a catamaran without hydrofoil and with the addition of two hydrofoils i.e. on the bow and stern of the ship. The results show when the ship is stationary, the application of hydrofoil does not have a major effect on the ship motions, because the foil has not yet produce lift force when the ship is stationary. When the ship operates at service speed, the application of hydrofoil can reduce the catamaran ship motions. This is evidenced by a reduction of the maximum significant amplitude value of the heaving motion that occurs in the 180deg heading angle with 5.46% reduction, the pitching motion that occurs in the 180deg heading angle with 10.88% reduction, and the rolling motion that occurs in the 90deg heading angle with 4.11% reduction.
