Abstract

The number of world population in the future is predicted to increase, including in Indonesia. Population density has a close relationship with food needs and land availability. When in a country the need for food cannot keep up with its population density, the country will experience a food security crisis.
This will have an impact on the survival of people who are increasingly short of resources. The more people there are, the food needs will increase and land will also decrease. So that both of them are very related to each other.
Architectural response regarding the issue of existing food availability shows that architects can also play a role in designing a representation of a situation in the future where there is less agricultural land so that cities must be able to survive.
The design in this final project in Surabaya is how to create a facility that can accommodate all agricultural activities with urban aquaponics and hydroponic farming, where the need for sunlight is the main requirement for plant growth in it. Then, the deepening of the utility system was chosen to examine the settlement of water needs and utility lines for the development of the aquaponics and hydroponic systems themselves.
The use of the Green Building design approach with the Green Architecture design method, and Contextual Analysis supports the development in designing agricultural food production which has benefits in supporting food sustainability
