Abstract

In shipbuilding, T-type fillet weld generally used in the connection of bulkheads, girder, and bracket in hull construction. Residual stress may occur due to high temperature differences as a result of welding and also uneven heat distribution. The purpose of this study is to determine the amount of residual stress, distortion, and the shape of the welding sequence variations that produce the least residual stress and distortion. Modeling is carried out based on the finite element method on the weld structure in the ANSYS 16 3-dimensional model program which is then validated with the same weld structure test results. Material for testing is aluminum 6061-T6. Modeling will be carried out by varying the welding sequence, including welding sequences in one direction, in opposite directions, from the center of one side, and from the center of two sides. Welding sequence from center of one sides is has the most low value of distortion and residual stress, the value of maximum longitudinal residual stress is 122,88 MPa and the maximum distortion is 0,32 mm. While the maximum transverse residual stress is 206,53 MPa and the maximum distortion is 0,32 mm.
