Abstract

Chromolaena odorata belongs to the Asteraceae family, which has been used traditionally as a diabetes medicine in several countries, such as India, Nigeria, Thailand, and Indonesia (Maluku and Aceh). This study aims to isolate and determine the structure of secondary metabolites of dichloromethane fraction from C. odorata leaves. Furthermore, in the dichloromethane fraction of C. odorata leaves, terpenoid compounds, S1, (6E,10E)-2,6,10-trimetilpentadeka-2,6,10-triena (160 mg), and S2 (75 mg) is a mixture compound of lupeol, α-amyrin and β-amyrin, had been isolated. Structure elucidation based on spectroscopic NMR (1H and 13C-NMR, HMQC and HMBC) and comparison with literatures.
