Abstract

Seagrass is known as one of the important marine resources because it provides marine ecosystem services both ecologically and economically. The condition of seagrass in the reasearch location has decreased throughout 2019; however, no seagrass restoration efforts have been carried out at that location. This study aims to determine and compare the survival value and growth rate of seagrass transplanted with four different methods as an effort to restore seagrass beds. The seagrass transplantation methods used in this study were sprig anchor, bamboo anchor, earthenware pot and gunny sack. THe average value of the highest seagrass growth rate was obtained from the sprig anchor method of 0.4±0.23 cm week-1, while bamboo anchor, earthenware pots, and gunny sacks were 0.1±0.16; 0.2±0.22; and 0.1±0.06 cm week-1. Furthermore, the highest survival rate was also obtained from the sprig anchor method of 100%, while bamboo anchor, earthenware pots, and gunny sacks received values of 80%, 80%, and 50%. Based on the One-Way Anova test and Tukey HSD test, the data statistically shows a significant difference. The sprig anchor method has a significant difference in the growth rate of seagrass leaf length with the bamboo anchor and gunny sack methods, but not with the earthenware pot method and the best method is sprig anchor.
