Abstract

Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) merupakan paduan yang mengakomodasi ingatan konfigurasi bentuk awal. Setelah diberi deformasi, SMA dapat mengembalikan konfigurasi tersebut melalui proses pemanasan hingga melewati temperatur transformasinya. Paduan Cu-Zn-Al merupakan salah satu jenis dari SMA. Proses manufaktur dari Cu-Zn-Al shape memory alloy ini menggunakan metode casting atau pengecoran dilanjutkan dengan proses heat treatment. Dalam penelitian ini, dilakukan proses solution treatment pada paduan Cu-11,9Zn-6,7Al dengan variasi temperatur 750 hingga 900ºC dilanjutkan dengan proses artificial aging. Didapatkan hasil bahwa pada semua variasi temperatur solution treatment dan juga pada perlakuan artificial aging, terbentuk fasa α, β, β’ dan γ. Semakin bertambahnya temperatur solution treatment membuat ukuran butir semakin besar. Nilai kekerasan paling tinggi adalah pada spesimen dengan temperatur solution treatment 750ºC pada spesimen ST750 yaitu 185 (±3,56) HV dengan ukuran butir 123,56 μm. Sementara pada spesimen artificial aging, nilai kekerasan tertinggi adalah pada spesimen ST750A yaitu sebesar 241,33 (±3,68) HV dengan ukuran butir yaitu 126,44 μm.

Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) is defined by the group of metallic alloys that can return to their original configuration when subjected to a heat above the transformation temperature. One of many kind of SMAs is Cu-Zn-Al alloy. The manufacturing process of Cu-Zn-Al shape memory alloy include casting and heat treatment process. Through this experiment, Cu-Zn-Al shape memory alloy is subjected to a solution treatment process within various temperature, ranging from 750 until 900ºC continued with artificial aging process. The result shows that in all temperature variation of solution treatment also in artificial aging process, α, β, β’ and γ phase exist. The greatest hardness in the solution treatment results is in the 750ºC temperature variation in ST750 specimen which is 185 (±3,56) HV with grain size 123,56 μm. And the greatest hardness in the results of artificial aging specimen is in the ST750A specimen, which is 241,33 (±3,68) HV with grain size 126,44 μm.
