Abstract

Settlement is an artificial form of man and nature in which there are all kinds of activities. The area that is interested to be studied in the context of spatial configuration is Bungin Island, Sumbawa. Bungin Island is the most populous island. The density of the island is caused by the increasing residential growth. This is influenced by population growth and the belief that if you want to get married, you must have a residence. The existence of these activities means that there is no more empty land that can be used as residential space so that the area of Bungin Island is uncertain as long as there is seawater slack, it will be used as a residential expansion. Thus, the residents of Bungin Island take advantage of the sea around Bungin Island in the north as a residential expansion. Not only that, Bungin residents who work as fishermen say that they are more active in the sea, so this research is very interesting to study to see how Bungin Island residents organize the environment.
Through the content analysis method, the opinion of the informants regarding the influencing factors to formulate the spatial configuration of the coastal and marine areas around Bungin Island is interpreted. From this research, it was found that the influencing factors are, landscape, road infrastructure, beliefs, norms, layout, facing direction, and shipping lanes. Thus the findings are in the form of spatial zoning, namely zoning (utilization) of space, zoning (ownership) of space, zoning (spiritual) of space at sea, (spiritual) zoning of space on land, zoning (spiritual) of macro space, spatial orientation and spatial centeredness.
