Abstract

Peatland is a land where the majority of its composition is organic
matter. Peat land is one type of land that is easily burned accidentally or
intentionally. Peatland fires that occur naturally due to natural factors
cause losses that are large enough to reach 221 trillion. So we need a land
temperature monitoring system to prevent fires. In this study, a ground
surface temperature monitoring system was created using a thermal
camera as a non-contact sensor. The thermal camera can be mounted in
various positions towards the ground to be monitored. The results of this
thermal camera reading will be entered into a convolution neural network
where the purpose of this neural network is to filter out inappropriate
readings such as the temperature of living things and other objects such
as cigarettes. The neural network and thermal camera images will be
processed in the Raspberry Pi 4. The dataset for neural network training
will be obtained from the thermal camera automatically and manually.
The different treatment resulted from the bicubic interpolation method
which will convert 8x8 pixels into 32x32 pixels. The results of the thermal
camera test have a faster response than the contact sensor and the accuracy
of the neural network model achieves an accuracy of 94% at an
interpolation level of 32x32 pixels. Testing on peatlands actually gives a
slightly slower response to temperature readings than the sample due to
the larger area and identification of disturbances with the neural network
has an accuracy of 80% with varied disturbance conditions.
