Abstract

Saat ini banyak instansi memiliki server sendiri untuk mengelola data digital instansi. Selain server-server fisik, untuk menghemat sumber daya, instansi-instansi tersebut juga menyediakan virtual machine untuk mengakomodasi kebutuhan server. Begitu pun juga di Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). Direktorat Pengembangan Teknologi dan Sistem Informasi (DPTSI) ITS mengelola infrastruktur server ITS yang disebut juga myITS Cloud dengan menggunakan virtual machine berbasis VMware menggunakan VMware vSphere hypervisor. Salah satu komponen penting pada vSphere adalah ESXi. ESXi merupakan bare-metal hypervisor sehingga dapat di-install secara langsung pada hardware (server fisik) tanpa perlu meng-install suatu sistem operasi terlebih dahulu. MyITS Cloud menyediakan banyak server ESXi untuk melakukan virtualisasi. Proses provisioning membutuhkan keputusan tempat resource harus diletakkan. Salah satu algoritma yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk melakukan decision making dalam proses provisioning ini adalah Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Pada tugas akhir ini, penulis akan mencoba melakukan implementasi analytic hierarchy process untuk resource provisioning pada infrastruktur server berbasis VMware di myITS cloud. Beberapa askpek yang dipertimbangan dalam pemilihan server adalah core CPU, ukuran memory, available storage, rasio memory virtual machine yang ada dengan memory fisik yang dimiliki server, dan rasio core CPU virtual machine yang ada dengan core CPU fisik yang dimiliki server. Hasil dari uji coba menunjukkan bahwa pemilihan server yang ideal dapat dilakukan menggunakan metode yang telah ditentukan. Dengan menerapkan hal ini, pemilihan server menjadi lebih mudah dan beban server-server yang bertugas untuk melakukan virtualisasi menjadi lebih merata karena virtual machine tidak hanya berkumpul pada satu server saja.

MyITS Cloud provides many ESXi servers tasked with virtualization. Provisioning requires a decision on where resources (virtual machine) should be placed. One of the algorithms that can be used to make decisions in the provisioning process is the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). In this final project, the author will try to implement an analytic hierarchy process for resource provisioning on a VMware-based server infrastructure in the myITS cloud. Some aspects that are considered in the server selection are number of CPU core, memory size, available storage, the ratio of existing virtual machine memory to physical memory owned by the server,

and the ratio of existing virtual machine CPU cores to physical CPU cores owned by the server. The results of the experiment show that the selection of the ideal server can be done using the predetermined method. By implementing this, server selection becomes easier and the load on the servers tasked with virtualization becomes more evenly distributed because virtual machines is not centralized at only one server.oday, there are many institutes who have their own server to manage their digital data.
