Abstract

Cooling system is the one of important equipment that must operated well in
the ship while the ship is doing the operational condition. But there is many
case that cooling system is failure to operation due the bad maintenance. The
example of cooling system failure such a seawater cooling system ( Sea
strainer blockage, Attached pump failure, Pipework failure, Standby pump
failure) Freshwater cooling system(Single pump failure, System pipework
failure, Chemical dosing failure).
PT Pelindo Marine Service daily called PT PMS is one of subsidiary PT
Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero) which is one of the biggest state-owned
(BUMN) ports service companies in Indonesia. PT PMS as a corporate entity
has a independent business in sea transportation, shipping and other maritime
industries.Provide facilities and /or tug & assist service in ship rreliance from
and / or to the pier, jetty, dolphin, and other mooring facilities in the territorial
waters of Indonesia and abroad. So that tugboat becomes one of the
company's main asset in supporting company productivity. If there is damage
in operational tugboat then the cessation of productivity and will have a direct
impact on corporate profits. And the maintenance that company use is
corrective maintenance, so they wait until the failure of the system then they
worked it out to get well as before.
The purpose of this thesis is to solve the failure of the equipment in engine
room using Reliabilty Centered Maintenance (RCM) method that provides
guidelines of how to create a maintenance program aplicable for various types
of equipment and system in engine room. And the results of this thesis is a
work package to do next maintenance of each system that has been analyse
by using Reliabilty Centered Maintenance (RCM).
