Abstract

Seiring perkembangannya, vinil klorida monomer (VCM) adalah
salah satu bahan kimia terkemuka yang digunakan terutama untuk pembuatan polivinil klorida (PVC). Hal itu terjadi karena konsumsi VCM akan tetap tergantung pada kinerja bisnis PVC, yang diperkirakan akan meningkat secara global pada tingkat tahunan. Perencanaan pabrik berada di daerah Cilegon dengan kapasitas produksi 260.000 ton/tahun dengan waktu operasi 330 hari. Proses pembuatan VCM dipilih menggunakan dipilih dari proses cracking etilen diklorida dengan kemurnian 99%. Proses diawali dengan persiapan bahan baku etilen menggunakan vaporizer untuk mengubah fase etilen diklorida sebelum memasuki tahap cracking. Proses cracking dilakukan untuk memecah EDC menjadi VCM dan HCl pada alat cracking furnace. Selanjutnya memasuki quencher untuk dilakukan pendinginan secara mendadak untuk menghentikan proses reaksi cracking. Hasil proses cracking menuju
stasiun purifikasi dimana EDC, VCM, dan HCl akan dipisahkan melalui proses distilasi menurut perbedaan volatilitasnya. Pada HCl Column terjadi pemisahan HCl memasuki top product sedangkan VCM dan EDC sisa berada dalam bottom product. Bottom product pada HCl Column masuk dalam VCM Column dimana VCM menjadi top product dan EDC sisa dalam bottom product. EDC sisa pada bottom product akan memasuki EDC Recyle Column yang nantinya dikembalikan dalam cracking furnace sebagai umpan. Untuk mendapatkan proses distilasi secara optimum dilakukan optimasi pada suhu operasi pada setiap kolom
distilasi. Penentuan suhu optimum didasarkan pada konstanta antoine pada penentuan spesifikasi alat distilasi. Berdasarkan hasil analisa ekonomi pabrik vinyl chloride monomer kapasitas 260.000 ton/tahun layak didirikan dengan nilai penjualan Rp.3.120.000.000.000/tahun dengan nilai IRR 19,42%, POT 6 tahun dan BEP 0,5%.

Along with its development, vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) is
one of the leading chemicals used primarily for the manufacture of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). This is because VCM consumption will remain dependent on the performance of the PVC business, which is expected to increase globally at an annual rate. The factory planning is in the Cilegon
area with a production capacity of 260,000 tons/year with an operating time of 330 days. The VCM manufacturing process was selected using the selected ethylene dichloride cracking process with 99% purity. The process begins with the preparation of ethylene raw materials using a
vaporizer to change the ethylene dichloride phase before entering the cracking stage. The cracking process is carried out to break EDC into VCM and HCl in the cracking furnace. Then it enters the quencher for sudden cooling to stop the cracking reaction process. The results of the
cracking process go to the purification station where EDC, VCM, and HCl will be separated through a distillation process according to the difference in volatility. In the HCl Column there is a separation of HCl entering the top product while the remaining VCM and EDC are in the
bottom product. The bottom product in the HCl Column is included in the VCM Column where VCM is the top product and the remaining EDC is in the bottom product. The remaining EDC in the bottom product will enter the EDC Recyle Column which will be returned to the cracking
furnace as feed. To obtain the optimum distillation process, optimization is carried out at the operating temperature of each distillation column. Determination of the optimum temperature is based on the antoine constant in the determination of the specifications of the distillation
apparatus. Based on the results of the economic analysis, a vinyl chloride monomer factory with a capacity of 260,000 tons/year is feasible to build with a sales value of Rp.3.120,000,000,000/year with an IRR of 19.42%,
a POT of 6 years and a BEP of 0.5%.
