Abstract

Metil oranye (MO) adalah polutan beracun dan karsinogenik dari industri pewarnaan yang memiliki efek berbahaya bagi lingkungan dan manusia. Golongan pewarna ini sulit didegradasi dengan metode konvensional. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan metode yang efektif untuk mendegradasi polutan menggunakan mikroorganisme. Dekolorisasi oleh bakteri diuji dengan mengoptimalkan berbagai parameter seperti konsentrasi pewarna, waktu inkubasi, suhu, pH serta didiamkan dan digoyang untuk menentukan kondisi optimal yang diperlukan untuk dekolorisasi yang maksimum. Pseudomonas aeruginosa menunjukkan degradasi MO maksimum pada konsentrasi MO 100 mg/L, setelah inkubasi 48 jam, suhu inkubasi 40 °C, pH media 8, dan kondisi didiamkan yang menghasilkan persentase dekolorisasi sebesar 94,75%. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa P. aeruginosa memiliki potensi besar dalam pengolahan limbah pewarna yang ramah lingkungan, efisien, cepat dan murah.

Methyl orange (MO) is toxic, carcinogenic, and priority pollutant from the dyeing industry that has harmful effects on environment and humans. This class of dye is difficult to degrade by conventional treatment methods. Therefore, an effective method is needed to degrade pollutants by microorganism. MO Decolorization by the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa was test by optimizing various parameters like dye concentration, incubation time, temperature, pH and agitation to determine the optimal conditions required for maximum decolorization. P. aeruginosa showed maximum dye degradation at 100 mg/L of MO, after 48 h of incubation, 40 ° C, medium pH 8, and static condition which resulted in 94.75% decolorization. This study indicated that P. aeruginosa has great potential for upcoming eco-friendly, high efficiency, fast and cheap dye wastewater treatment.
