Abstract

Vertical span hydrokinetic turbine merupakan turbin yang memiliki poros tegak lurus dengan arah arus air. Pada turbin jenis ini terdapat parameter yang mempengaruhi performa turbin diantaranya jarak antar foil serta geometri hydrofoil. pada penelitian ini dilakukan analisis studi eksperimental mengenai pengaruh jarak antar foil serta geometri hydrofoil terhadap performansi vertical span hydrokinetic turbine dengan tailting configuration. Dan didapatkan hasil bahwa penambahan jarak antar foil cenderung akan menurunkan nilai torsi turbin. Namun semakin panjang jarak antar foil maka kecepatan sudut akan semakin besar. Nilai Cp berbeda-beda bergantung besar nilai rasio torsi antara jarak antar foil 6 cm dengan 9 cm dan rasio kecepatan sudut antara turbin yang menggunakan jarak antar foil 9 cm dengan jarak antar foil 6 cm. Performansi turbin dengan geometri hydrofoil simetris (NACA 0018) lebih baik daripada turbin dengan geometri hydrofoil asimetris (NACA 4418). Dan pada penelitian ini didapatkan performansi tertinggi sebesar 0,38 pada konfigurasi A di jarak 9 cm dengan NACA 4418 di aliran 0,9 m/s. Sementara pada konfigurasi B, cp tertinggi sebesar 0,36 di jarak 9 cm dengan NACA 0018.

Vertical span hydrokinetic turbine is a turbine that has a shaft perpendicular to the direction
of the water flow. In this type of turbine, there are parameters that affect the performance of
the turbine, including the distance between the foils and the geometry of the hydrofoil. In
this research, an experimental study analysis was conducted on the effect of the distance
between the foils and the geometry of the hydrofoil on the vertical span hydrokinetic turbine
performance with tailting configuration. And the result is that the addition of the distance
between the foils tends to decrease the turbine torque value. However, the longer the
distance between the foils, the greater the angular velocity. The value of Cp varies depending
on the value of the torque ratio between the distance between the foils of 6 cm and 9 cm and
the angular velocity ratio between the turbines using a distance between the foils of 9 cm
and the distance between the foils of 6 cm. The performance of the turbine with symmetric
hydrofoil geometry (NACA 0018) is better than the turbine with asymmetric hydrofoil
geometry (NACA 4418). And in this study, the highest performance was 0.38 in configuration
A at a distance of 9 cm with NACA 4418 at a flow of 0.9 m/s. While in configuration B, the
highest cp is 0.36 at a distance of 9 cm with NACA 0018.
