Abstract

Currently, the use of RAP on new road pavement structures has often been used in several developed countries. Using RAP for new road pavement is considered to have several advantages, such as economic value. However, this material must go through a few tests in the laboratory to meet the mix quality requirements.

This study aims to determine whether RAP can be used for Asphalt Concrete – Binder Course mixture using hot-mix method with the addition of vegetable oil as rejuvenator. various samples were made with different rates of RAP to find out how much RAP should be used so that it qualifies the requirements. The samples with RAP later will be tested with Marshall Test and ITS (Indirect Tensile Strength).

As the result, 5% additional RAP for new road pavement shows good values such as 978.48 kg for stability, 3.05 mm for flow, 319.38 kg/mm for marshall quotient, 6.86% for VIM, 20.22% for VMA, and 67.02% for VFA. The result shown by Indirect Tensile Strength are
427.2 kPa for dry method and 342.4 kPa for wet method in sample with 5% RAP.
