Abstract

In the smart classroom at the Department of Instrumentation Engineering, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Surabaya there are electrical equipment such as air conditioners, lights, sockets, LED projectors, and Personal Computers. Starting from the lecturer getting authorization to enter the smart classroom, then pressing the door handle to enter the room. At that time, the electrical energy monitoring system started to operate. The lecturer turns on the electrical equipment in the smart classroom such as a lamp, then the measurement in the use of electrical power begins to be carried out. With the design of the electrical energy monitoring system in the smart classroom, it can analyze the electrical energy needs used by lecturers as an effort to save the use of electrical energy and find out the estimated costs incurred for using electrical equipment in the smart classroom in realtime which is accessed via a GUI on a PC. In the design of the electrical energy monitoring system that will be carried out there are 3 parts, namely sensors to measure the use of electrical energy, namely the Schneider Electric digital power meter type iEM 2050 which is available modbus communication protocol, modbus gateway to retrieve data from a digital power meter and send measurement data to the server, A PC with a monitor is used to display a GUI in the form of measurement results from the digital power meter. The electrical energy monitoring system was created to support the construction of a smart classroom in the ITS Instrumentation Engineering Department which is expected to monitor the use and estimated costs incurred when using electrical energy in the smart classroom.
