Abstract

Orion merupakan salah satu konstelasi bintang yang dikenal sebagai “Sang Pemburu” pada mitologi Yunani. Kisah dari tokoh Oron diceritakan dalam berbagai versi dan varian. Namun, seringkali adaptasi kisah dari Orion cenderung disajikan dalam bentuk media yang terbatas seperti media cetak. Sementara itu laju kebutuhan konten visual di era digital ini sangat masif, sehingga memberikan kreator sebuah peluang yang cukup menjajikan dengan membawa adaptasi konten Orion ke ranah media digital dengan sentuhan visualisasi baru.
Metode penelitian yang dilakukan mencakup studi eksperimental, dan depth interview. Penelitian diawali dengan tinjauan pustaka untuk mempelajari berbagai versi kisah dari tokoh orion dan mendapatkan wawasan mengenai teori komik. Berdasarkan hasil metode sebelumnya, melalui studi eksperimental akan dirumuskan konsep perancangan dan media yang digunakan, yaitu komik digital. Kemudian depth interview berfokus pada evaluasi hasil konsep desain kepada senior komik dan novelis yang telah berpengalaman untuk mendapatkan saran dan masukan yang sesuai.
Perancangan ini akan menghasilkan sebuah komik digital tentang adaptasi tokoh dari Mitologi Orion dengan judul “Orion: The Onus and Fate” yang disajikan dengan genre aksi dan fantasi. Media Line Webtoon dipilih sebagai wadah untuk menggunggah komik ini dengan memanfaatkan fitur yang memudahkan pembaca untuk mengakses isi konten, sistem gratis-berbayar yang memberikan peluang komersialisasi komik untuk menguntungkan pembaca dan komikus, serta fitur berbagi konten melalui media sosial yang memungkinkan komik agar dikenal lebih luas.

Orion is one of the constellations known as "The Hunter" in Greek mythology. The story of the character Oron is told in various versions and variants. However, often the adaptation of stories from Orion tends to be presented in a limited form of media such as print media. Meanwhile, the rate of need for visual content in this digital era is very massive, thus providing creators with quite promising opportunities by bringing the adaptation of Orion content to the realm of digital media with a new visualization touch.
The research method used includes experimental studies and depth interviews. The research begins with a review to study various versions of the story of the Orion character and gain insights into comic theory. Based on the results of the previous method, an experimental study will formulate the design concept and the media used, namely digital comics. Then the depth interview focuses on evaluating the results of the design concept to experienced comic seniors and novelists to get appropriate suggestions and input.
This design will produce a digital comic about the adaptation of a character from Orion Mythology with the title "Orion: The Onus and Fate" which is presented with the action and fantasy genres. Media Line Webtoon was chosen as a forum for uploading this comic by utilizing features that make it easier for readers to access content, a free-paid system that provides opportunities for comics commercialization to benefit readers and comic artists, as well as content sharing features through social media that allow comics to be known more widely.
