Abstract

Good scheduling is needed for a ship hull construction project so that the project can runs smoothly. In designing project scheduling, the most frequently used method is the Critical Path Method (CPM). Currently, several new methods have been developed in preparing project scheduling, one of which is Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) that removes safety time for each activity and is replaced with a buffer. This study aims to compare the results of the scheduling result between the traditional CPM method and the CCPM method. The project used in the analysis of this research is the hull construction of the Landing Platform Dock (LPD). Variations of buffer sizing used in this project scheduling are Cut & Paste Method (C&PM) and Root Square Error Method (RSEM). For the scheduling analysis, calculations are performed manually and Ms. Project software is used as validation of total float calculation, critical path and project network. The obtained results from this study are project scheduling using the Critical Path Method (CPM) is known to be completed in 252 days. As for the CCPM, the project can be completed in 220.75 days using the C&PM buffer calculation method and 216.48 days using RSEM. From this analysis, it can be concluded that the traditional CPM method has the largest total duration while CCPM with RSEM buffer sizing has the smallest total duration with a difference of 35.52 days with CPM.
