Abstract

Single Point Mooring (SPM).

Floating Storage Offloading (FSO) is a floating structure that has the ability to store
hydrocarbons. Under operating conditions, the FSO requires a mooring system to keep it
stable in its position. One that is commonly used is Single Point Mooring (SPM). An analysis
of the mooring system is needed to determine the strength of the mooring system so that
offshore operations can run safely. In this final project, an analysis of the strength of the
chain stopper on SPM with two mooring system configurations is carried out. This was done
because the SPM was changed from a 4 stopper system to a 6 stopper with the same anchor
chain position. By knowing the motion behavior of SPM and FSO due to environmental
loads in free floating conditions, it will be known the value of the tension of the mooring
lines in several variations of loading. RAO values on FSO and SPM tend to experience
maximum conditions at full load conditions when the roll movement mode is in the direction
of the incoming wave from the beam sea (90⁰) and the frequency is 0.57 rad/s. The results of
the analysis for the results of tension on the chain stopper that are not parallel are 1589.68
kN in configuration 1, and 2518.67 kN in configuration 2. The maximum stress (Von-Mises
stress) and deformation on the chain stopper with configuration 1 is 259.82 MPa, and 0.32
mm, while the configuration 2 is 373.06 MPa, and 0.33mm. In general, the values of tension,
von-mises stress, and deformation that occur in configuration 1 are smaller than
configuration 2.
