Abstract

Batu City has a topography consisting of a cluster of hills
with fertile soil types suitable for agricultural cultivation, as well
as abundant water sources from the Berantas River and
groundwater sources and there is UPT Materia Medika as a
place for herbal plant education. This can support the
productivity of biopharmaceutical plants in supporting the
concept of herbal education. However, the facts on the field is
that there is a phenomenon of land conversion from agriculture
to settlements and tourist attractions, so it is necessary to
formulate the suitability of herbal edutourism locations in Batu
City. The purpose of this study was to formulate the suitability
of the location for herbal edutourism in Batu City.
In order to realize the research objectives, the target to be
achieved is to identify the factors that influence the development
of herbal edutourism in Batu City using the Content Analysis
(CA) method. Then proceed with identifying potential priority
locations for herbal edutourism areas in Batu City based on land
suitability with the overlay analysis method.
The results of this study were that of 23 factors, 22 factors
were found that influenced the development of herbal
edutourism and the three sub-districts in Batu City were
categorized as land suitability in the form of Very Appropriate
(S1) and Adequately Appropriate (S2) for planting herbal plants
such as ginger, turmeric, kaempferia galanga, galangal, and
lemongrass. However, specifically for ginger plants, apart from very suitable land suitability (S1) and moderately suitable (S2),
there is also land suitability in the form of marginally suitable
(S3), precisely located in Batu District and Bumiaji District
