Abstract

One of the important parameters in the propeller that affects ship speed and engine matching is the propeller pitch value. This final project evaluates the performance of the propeller with the CPP type on the Mini LNG Carrier Ship based on variations in pitch ratio. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method is used to calculate propeller thrust and torque using the EASM (Explicit Algebraic Stress Model) turbulent flow model. The simulation results are used to create a KT – KQ – J diagram and validated with the open water test experimental data that has been carried out by BTH-BPPT. Simulations were carried out on the Wageningen B-Screw Series propeller with variations in pitch ratio (P/D) of 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2 and 1.4. The results of the simulation data processing obtained the most optimum P/D of 1.144. At P/D 1.144 Mini LNG Carrier Ship is at their maximum speed using a BHP MCR engine of 554 KW with 1787 RPM and using a BHP SCR engine of 551 KW with 1885 RPM with a propeller efficiency of 0.5026.
