Abstract

Kebisingan dapat mempengaruhi kenyamanan saat berkendara. Oleh karena itu pembuatan interior penumpang haruslah menggunakan material yang dapat mengabsorbsi suara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa material komposit polypropylene berpenguat serat tandan kosong kelapa sawit untuk penyerapan suara pada bagian door panel kendaraan. Permasalahan yang dikaji untuk mengetahui nilai koefisien absorpsi suara, sifat fisik, serta sifat mekanik. Komposisi fraksi massa serat yang digunakan adalah 5%, 10%, 15%. Tujuannya untuk mendapatkan nilai koefisien absorpsi suara terbaik serta sifat fisik dan mekanik yang paling baik. Metode yang digunakan berdasarkan standartd ASTM E 1050 untuk pengujian absorbs suara, ASTM D790 untuk pengujian flexural, dan ASTM D792 untuk pengujian densitas. Dari hasil pengujian didapatkan nilai koefisien absorpsi suara, kekuatan lentur dan densitas tertinggi secara berturut turut 0.42853 pada frekuensi 4000 Hz, 99.6356 Mpa, 1.025 gr/cm3. Nilai tertinggi didapatkan pada komposit dengan presentase 10% serat tandan kosong kelapa sawit dan 90% polypropylene.

Noise can affect the comfort in driving. Therefore, the interior should be made by sound absorption materials. Objective of this research was to analyze oil palm empty fruit bunches fibre reinforced polypropylene composite for sound absorption used in the door panel part of the vehicle. The problem was to find out the composite morphology, density, value of sound absorption coefficient, flexural strength, and flexural modulus by comparing variation of composition reinforcement and matrix. The composition of the mass fraction of the reinforcement used were 5%, 10%, and 15%. The goal was to find out the best sound absorption coefficient value, good physical and mechanical properties. The methods were based on ASTM E1050 for sound coefficient absorption test, ASTM D790 for flexural test, and ASTM D792 for density test. From the results was obtained the sound absorption coefficient, flexural strength, and density were, 0.42853 at 4000 Hz frequency, 99.6356 MPa, 1.025 gr/cm3. The highest value was obtained on composite with percentage of 10% oil palm empty fruit bunches fibre and 90% polypropylene.
