Abstract

Beberapa tahun terakhir, kayu Jati sebagai bahan utama pembuatan kapal ikan
mengalami kelangkaan. Kelangkaan tersebut menyebabkan harga kayu Jati semakin mahal
dan tidak terjangkau. Oleh karena itu, bambu laminasi digunakan sebagai material
alternatif pengganti kayu Jati dalam pembuatan kapal ikan. Lambung kapal mengalami tiga
kondisi, yaitufree, splash zone dan sink. Tiga kondisi ini memiliki karakteristik yang
berbeda – beda. Semakin lama terendam air laut, bambu laminasi akan mengalami
perubahan sifat mekanik karena media air laut yang mengandung garam. Perubahan sifat
mekanik ini berpengaruh terhadap kekuatan tarik dan impact. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan
penelitian tentang pengaruh splash zone terhadap kekuatan bambu laminasi pada lambung
kapal ikan.
Penelitian ini dimulai dengan pembuatan spesimen uji dan diberikan perlakuan
kondisi free, splash zone dan sink. Pengujian yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini terdiri
atas pengujian tarik dan impact. Pengujian tarik yang dilakukan terdiri atas tiga kondisi,
yaitu kondisi free, splash zone dan sink. Sedangkan pengujian impact yang dilakukan
terdiri atas dua kondisi, yaitu splash zone dan sink. Hasil dari pengujian ini dibandingkan
dengan kayu Jati.
Hasil pengujian tarik menunjukkan bambu laminasi dan kayu Jati pada
kondisifreememiliki kuat tarikrata-rata sebesar 82,667 MPa dan 71,060 MPa. Sedangkan
pada kondisi splash zone memiliki kuat tarik rata-rata sebesar 61,444 MPa dan 46,983
MPa. Pada kondisi sinknilai kuat tarik rata-rata bambu laminasi dan kayu Jati sebesar
179,893 MPa dan 88,381 MPa. Hasil pengujian impact menunjukkan bambu laminasi dan
kayu Jati pada kondisi splash zone memiliki nilai impactrata-rata sebesar 4,433x10 ²
J/mm² dan 0,589x10 ²J/mm². Sedangkan pada kondisi sinkmemiliki nilai impactrata-rata
sebesar 5,766x10 ² J/mm² dan 0,837x10 ² J/mm².Oleh karena itu, bambu laminasi
memiliki kekuatan tarik yang lebih baik daripada kayu Jati saat kondisi free, splash zone
dan sink, begitupula nilai impactnya saat kondisi splash zone dan sink.

In recent years, teak wood as the main material for fishing ships manufacture
experienced scarcity. This caused the price of teak is getting more expensive and
unaffordable. Therefore, bamboo used as an alternative for the fishing ships manufacture.
The hull has conditions of splash zone, sink and free. Three of these conditions have
different characteristics to the hull. The longer immersed in sea water, laminated bamboo
will undergo changes in mechanical properties due to sea water medium which is
containing salt. These changes affect the mechanical properties of tensile and impact
strength. Because of that, we need to do research on the effect of the splash zone to the
laminated bamboo strength on hull of fishing ship.
This research began with the making of test specimens and given treatment
conditions of splash zone, sink, and free. Tests were conducted in this research consisted of
tensile and impact testing. Tensile test consisted of three conditions, namely splash zone,
sink and free. While the impact test conducted consisted of two conditions, namely splash
zone and sink.
The results of tensile test showed laminated bamboo and teak in splash zone
condition each have an average tensile strength of 61,444 MPa and 46,983 MPa.
Laminated bamboo and teak in sink condition each have an average tensile strength of
179,893 MPa and 88,381 MPa, bamboo and teak laminate in free condition each have an
average tensile strength of 82,667 MPa and 71,060 MPa. Test results show the impact of
laminated bamboo and teak in splash zone condition each have impact value of 4,433x10 ²
J/mm² and 0,5894,433x10 ²J/mm², laminated bamboo and teak in sink condition each have
impact value of 5,7664,433x10 ² J/mm² and 0,8374,433x10 ² J/mm². Therefore, laminated
bamboo has better tensile strength than teak in conditions of free, splash zone and sink,
following the impact value has the similar effect in conditions of splash and sink.
