Abstract

Pesticides have many uses for crops protection and pest
exterminator. But pesticides have a downsides which is harmful if exposed to human due to it’s toxicity. Polyaniline is an intrinsically conductive polymers which changes it’s electrical and optical properties when doped / dedoping by certain dopant. Due to it’s
unique properties, Polyaniline is a widely used material for gas sensors application. This research aims to analyze influence of CuO towards PANI/CuO composites to it’s morphology, electrical conductivity and sensing capability for pesticides. Polyaniline
(PANI) is synthesized using chemical oxidation. In other hand, CuO is available in powder forms. CuO is added to Polyaniline matrix with three different variation, that is 0, 10, 20, and 30% of weight fraction. To create PANI/CuO composites, PANI and CuO is mixed in an ultrasonic cleaner then compressed to pellets using compaction method. Composites then characterized using Scanning Electron Microscopy, X-ray Dispersion Spectroscopy, and Fourier Transform Infrared. For electrical conductivity and sensing capability measured using LCR meter. From the research, increasing weight fraction of CuO in PANI/CuO composites shows rougher particle’s morphology. And increasing weight fraction in PANI/CuO composites lowers it’s electrical conductivity and the composites reacts to dichlorvos pesticides with increasing conductivity.
