Abstract

===============================================================
Research results show that 67% of tsunamis occur in eastern Indonesia, one of them around in Banda Sea. Rcent research proves the existence of the deepest trench in the Banda Sea, Indonesia that has ever triggered a huge tsunami in 1674. Therefore, modeling of tsunami in the area an important as mitigation effort of tsunami in the future. The research aims to modeling the source, wave propagation, and run up tsunami around the Banda Sea as well as analyzing inundation in the affected areas using software L2008. Tsunami modeling is done using the earthquake scenario, on December 26, 2009 by modifying the strength to Mw-8,3 , the depth of 33 km and source mechanism of earthquake is determined by software ISOLA. The dimension of fault and slip is estimated using the empirical equation of Papzachos (2004), Hanks and Kanamori (1979) dan Wells & Coppersmith (1984). Inundation analysis refers to the equation of Hills, J. G. & Mader, C. L., 1997. Tsunami modeling results show the value of vertical displacement of approximately 7,7 meters, propagation tsunamis in all directions and first entered the East Seram in minute to 05.40. Run Up the highest found in Tual about 7,71 meters and inundation of tsunami ranges from 64,18 meters in Aru Island up to 1009,49 meters in the town of Tual.
