Abstract

Telah dilakukan pembuatan rancang bangun turbin arus laut vertical axis straight blade cascade dengan perbesaran dimensi, yaitu variasi dimensi turbin dengan diameter 0,4 m, 0,6 m, dan 0,8 m. Variasi kecepatan aliran yang digunakan untuk eksperimen ini adalah 1,1 m/s, 1,2 m/s, dan 1,3 m/s dengan menggunakan variasi 3 dimensi turbin. Perbesaran dimensi turbin mempunyai pengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan performansi dari turbin. Didapatkan Cp tertinggi yaitu 0,42 dengan dimensi turbin berdiameter 0,8 m pada kecepatan aliran 1,1 m/s. Pada penelitian tentang konfigurasi array turbin, dilakukan pengambilan data pada Laboratorium Hidrodinamik (Towink Tank), Teknik Perkapalan, ITS Surabaya. Variasi kecepatan aliran yang digunakan untuk eksperimen ini adalah 0,7 m/s, 1,0 m/s, dan 1,3 m/s dengan menggunakan variasi 3 konfigurasi array turbin yaitu konfigurasi co-rotating, counter-rotating out dan counter-rotating in. Didapatkan hasil bahwa konfigurasi counter-rotating turbin berpengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan performansi turbin dibandingkan dengan stand alone turbin. Performansi turbin dalam sebuah konfigurasi array dipengaruhi oleh interaksi hidrodinamik yang terjadi diantara kedua turbin.

Prototype and experiment of vertical axis straight blade cascade dimensional scaling up have been completed with three variation of dimension rotor diameter, which is 0,8 m, 0,6 m and 0,4 m. The used freestream velocity were 1,1 m/s, 1,2 m/s, 1,3 m/s using three variation of turbines dimension. Dimensional scaling up have a positive impact for increasing turbine performance. The result show that the highest Cp 0,42 at freestream velocity 1,1 m/s with turbine’s rotor diameter 0,8 m. In research about array configuration turbines, which is held at Hydrodinamic Laboratory (Towink Tank), Marine Engineering Department, ITS Surabaya. The used freestream velocity were 0,7 m/s, 1,0 m/s, and 1.3 m/s using three variation of turbines array configuration, which is co-rotating, counter-rotating-out and counter-rotating-in configuration. The result show that counter-rotating configuration have a positive impact to increase turbine’s performance than stand alone turbine. Turbine’s performance in a array configuration is influenced by the hydrodynamic interaction between two turbines.
