Abstract

Inconel 718 mulai banyak digunakan dalam pembuatan
komponen mesin pesawat terbang karena memiliki kelebihan sifat
material yang baik, namun memiliki kekurangan yaitu sulit
dilakukan proses pemesinan. Salah satu alternatif proses
pemesinan adalah electrochemical machining (ECM).
Electrochemical grinding (ECG) merupakan salah satu contoh
dari ECM yang merupakan kombinasikan proses penggerindaan
konvensional dan proses ECM. ECG memiliki rasio
penggerindaan hingga 5% konvensional dan 95% ECM. Harga
mesin ECG dipasaran mencapai sekitar 53 juta rupiah. Di
Laboratorium Pemesinan Non Konvensional D3 Teknik Mesin
ITS terdapat komponen-komponen dan bahan-bahan yang dapat
dimanfaatkan. Maka dilakukan rancang bangun mesin ECG
memanfaatkan komponen-komponen dan bahan-bahan tersebut.
Untuk merancang mesin ECG diperlukan perancangan
struktur, perancangan proses penggerindaan konvensional,
Kapasitas
mesin telah mencapai kapasitas direncanakan.

Inconel 718 has been recently identified to be prevalently
used in the manufacture of aircraft components due to its
excellent material quality, however, with the expense of increased difficulty in the machining process. One of the machining process alternatives is electrochemical machining (ECM). Electrochemical grinding (ECG) is one of the examples of ECM which is a combination of conventional grinding and ECM processes. ECG has an up to 5%:95% grinding ratio of
conventional grinding to ECM. The price of an ECG machine in
the market reaches 53 million rupiahs. In the Non-Conventional Machining Laboratory for the D3 program of the ITS Mechanical Engineering department, there were a number of components and material which could be utilized. Therefore, a design of ECM machine was able to be built using these materials.
To build the ECG machine, a number of designs were incorporated including structural, conventional grinding process, and ECM process. Furthermore, these designs were followed by the assembly stage and testing.
The results of testing showed that the MRR values were observed at 20,196 mm3 /min and 112,2 mm3 /min for
conventional grinding and ECG, respectively, with the ratio of 18%:82%. In conclusion, the machine capacity has fulfilled the required specification.
