Abstract

Sedangkan
pada komposit serat rambut manusia bermatriks polyester
kekuatan mekanik tertinggi yaitu sebesar 3,4 kgf/mm2,
tetes.

The effect of resin and hardener on human fiber
composite have been successfully carried out. Dried and
cleaned human hair soaked in NaOH 1 M for 60 minutes, and
then rinsed by aquades followed by convective drying. This
processed hair was added in the matrix in a constant volume
fraction ratio (fiber:matrix = 30%:70%). Variation epoxy and
hardener used was 50%:50%, 60%:40%, 70%:30%,
80%:20%. The amount of catalyst employed was also varied;
1.e. 1 – 4 drops in a constant volume of mold; i.e. 11.69 ml.
The highest properties obtained for human hair reinforced
epoxy matrix were 4.5 kgf/mm2, 6,32% and 1.0908 gr/ml for
tensile strength, elongation and density, respectively. The
above data was obtained for resin-to-epoxy ratio of 60:40.
Whereas for human hair reinforced polyester matrix, it was
obtained 3.4 kgf/mm2, 3,84% and 1.23 gr/ml for tensile
strength, elongation and density, respectively, for sample with
catalyst amounts of 4 drops.
