Abstract
Produktivitas publikasi ilmiah dosen ITS selama empat tahun terakhir mengalami kemerosotan dengan ditandai ranking pada skala internasional yang selalu turun, padahal ITS telah menjadi Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Badan hukum (PTN BH) yang dituntut menjadi World Class University. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengelompokkan dosen ITS menggunakan analisis K-Means yang diawali dengan eksplorasi dimensi variabel metrik menggunakan analisis faktor dengan pendekatan Principal Component Analysis. Penelitian ini menggunakan variabel metrik yaitu usia, lama kerja, jumlah dokumen berbahasa Indonesia dan Inggris, jumlah co-author, jumlah sitasi, indeks-h dan indeks-i10, serta variabel non metrik yaitu jenis kelamin, jabatan fungsional, pendidikan terakhir, tempat pendidikan terakhir, fakultas dan departemen. Analisis faktor mereduksi 8 variabel metrik menjadi 3 komponen utama yang mampu menjelaskan varians total sebesar 91,685%. Analisis K-Means menghasilkan 4 klaster, yaitu klaster ke-4 (39 dosen) dengan kecenderungan kualitas publikasi ilmiah yang tinggi dan klaster ke-1 (28 dosen) dengan kecenderungan kuantitas publikasi ilmiah yang tinggi, keduanya memiliki karakteristik jabatan fungsional sebagai Lektor Kepala dan Guru Besar, serta pendidikan terakhir S3 yang diselesaikan di luar negeri, dimana sebagian besar dosen di klaster ke-4 berasal dari Fakultas FTI dan FMIPA, sedangkan klaster ke-1 berasal dari Fakultas FTI dan FTIf. Klaster ke-3 (299 dosen) terdiri dari dosen yang cenderung lebih senior (berusia lanjut) namun sebagian besar sudah menjabat sebagai Lektor Kepala dan Guru Besar, serta menyelesaikan pendidikan S3 baik di dalam negeri maupun di luar negeri. Klaster ke-2 (362 dosen) terdiri dari dosen yang lebih junior dan sebagian besar menjabat sebagai Asisten Ahli dan Lektor, serta baru menyelesaikan pendidikan terakhir S2 baik di dalam negeri maupun di luar negeri.

The scientific publications productivity of ITS lecturers during the last four years is declining that shown by decreasing of international ranking, whereas ITS has become a Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Badan Hukum (PTN BH) which is claimed to be a world class university. This study will be clustering ITS lecturers using K-Means cluster analysis which begins with exploration of metric variable dimensions using factor analysis with Principal Component Analysis approach. This study will use metric variables, such as age, years of dedication, number of Indonesian and English documents, number of co-author, number of citation, h-index and i10-index, and non-metric variables such as gender, functional position, recent education, recent place of education, faculty and departments. Factor analysis reduces 8 metric variables into 3 principal components that explain 91,685% of the total variance. The cluster analysis of K-Means resulted 2 categories of lecturers that is productive and non-productive. The productive category consists of the 4th cluster (39 lecturers) with the high preference of scientific publications quality and the 1st cluster (28 lecturers) with a high quantity of scientific publication, their characteristics are functional positions as Head Lecturer and Professor, also doctoral as recent education which completed abroad, where most of the lecturers in the 4th cluster are from from the Faculty of FTI and FMIPA, while the 1st cluster is from the Faculty of FTI and FTIf. The 3rd cluster (299 lecturers) consists of lecturers who tend to be more senior (elderly) but most have served as Head Lecturers and Professors, as well as completing S3 education both domestically and abroad. The 2nd cluster (362 lecturers) consists of more junior lecturer and most of them are Expert Assistents and Lecturers, and have just finished their S2 as last education both domestically and abroad.
