Abstract

=======================================================================================================
In foreign body implantation into the body, there is a big risk of foreign body related infections (FBRIs). This is caused by the adhesion of bacteria on the surface of the implant until it colonizes to form the biofilm that causes the infection. The most common complication that occurs in dental implants is the failure of early dental implant systems. One that can be applied to prevent the occurrence of infection is with antimicrobial coating. Implementation of silver (Ag) on the surface is one of the most rapidly growing in antimicrobial coating research. In this research, Ag metal deposits on the surface of Titanium Ti-6Al-4V alloy substrates. Deposition of metal Ag using Physical Vapor Deposition method: Radio Frequency Sputtering (PVD RF Sputtering) to produce silver thin film. Deposition on layer with variable time of deposition for 10, 15, 20 minute and 25 minutes Testing in this research include Antimicrobial test, XRD, SEM-EDX, AFM, and Rockwell C Indentation Test. Increased deposition time in the PVD process increases the Ag content on the surface with the highest value of 97.12 wt% with a time of 25 min. Based on the test results, the higher the time deposition will produce the Ag the highre. Higher time deposition will increased the roughness of the surface. At testing Antimicrobial Test proves that all samples with a thin layer of Ag have antimicrobial properties and the higher time deposition will increase the inhibition zone. In the Rockwell C indentation qualitatively produce silver thin film with the poor adhesion.
