Abstract

Indonesia is the biggest archipelago country in the world. Geographically Indonesia is a country with two-thirds of the oceans larger than the mainland. Indonesia has great potential to advance its economy because there are many opportunities that can be realized to ensure inter-island relations, develop marine-related industries, and the development of marine transportation. Currently the government is developing a sea toll program, namely the use of ships as a medium on a logistics system that connects all the islands in Indonesia. This program is expected to increase the distribution of goods and logistics throughout Indonesia to lower the cost requirement. From the sea toll program, the government provides Coaster ships. Named as KM Sabuk Nusantara, this ship connects isolated areas in Indonesia. The length of travel time using this Coaster Ship is necessary to accommodate the needs of the ship users for privacy, comfort and safety when they are on cabin. While on cabin, the passengers need a convenient means to accommodate their needs and activities. The methods will be used of the Interior Design of the 1200 GT Coaster Ship are observation, data collection, interviews, questionnaires, existing studies, design criteria, literature studies to produce some design alternatives in accordance with the concepts specified. The output of this design is in the form of sketches, 3D modeling, and mock-up.
